Delhiites are not left with a choice but to survive the inevitable bad effects of smoke. Everybody is not sensitive to smoke but still it’s not a good idea to breathe smoke. As in the long run it will cause serious damage to lungs. We were aware of this matter and its consequences and that’s why supported cracker-free Deepawali. It’s hard for a layman to understand that even though we have sacrificed alot by celebrating the Cracker-free Deepawali, from where has this thick layer of smog built-up? In this quest, the speed of wind was observed to be low for some time. All of a sudden, the speed of wind is blocked and that too over National Capital! Is it some supernatural power or Alien activity? Must be some other factor, that we are not aware of. Before we could imagine any other activity, we should remember that Mother nature is very proactive and disciplined. Wind was a bit confused actually. The average speed of the flow of wind got a pseudo-halt and some particulate matters got suspended in it. These particles are typically like Delhiites in nature. In the first place, they are least bothered and harmless spectator and as they get agitated, they are the most energetic, stubborn creature and show their Rowdy colors.
As smoke preys upon innocent Delhiites, this brings us to the biography of those predators. From where are the suspended into the air and potentially how harmful its consequences are? How can we protect ourselves from its bad effects? All these queries have been raised by many. We are looking for every bit that we can do to save ourselves and society from this havoc. Knock knock! Good morning!!!I It’s just like ‘kumbhakarna’ wakes up.
Meanwhile, being a responsible citizen, it becomes compulsory to get educated and spread awareness regarding this topic. So, during a fire in close proximity the smoke is heavy. Smoke is a complex mixture of different components and gases. These microscopic particles can penetrate deep into the lungs. We need to keep a check and follow different steps to minimize the hazardous effects of smog, for example :
1.Air Quality Index check- We need to pay attention to local air quality reports. When smoke gets worse, there are several apps on smartphones from which we can get a real time data of a AQI.
2. Fog or Smog- Sometimes with the onset of winters, people confuse smog with fog.Fog is not harmful but smog is mixture of smoke and fog and is hazardous most of the times. If you smell smoke in fog, then you should avoid outdoor activities.
3.Particulate masks- Scarves and handkerchief are not enough. We ought to shift to particulate mask. They should be used properly to get the maximum benefit out of them.
4.If sensitive to smoke, make sure you consult your health-care provider and follow the given directions as and when required.
Concluding, it is important to limit your exposure to smoke to avoid particle related effects.
