The 500th test match of India, which was played against New Zealand at Green Park, Kanpur, brought smiles on the face of all the Indian cricket fans. Virat Kohli and the team continued their jubilant performance, as India outplayed their opponents in both, bat and ball. Winning with a margin of whopping 197 runs, team India marches forward with boosted confidence to the second test, which will be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
After scoring a mammoth total of 377 runs on the scoreboard, Virat Kohli declared the innings, giving Kiwis a next to impossible target. At the end of Day 4, victory seemed much closer as 4 Kiwi batsmen had fallen short to a mere score of 93.
Despite being on the back foot and fighting an uphill task to save the match, Luke Ronchi, and Mitchell Santner started the final day with a much-focused approach. Defying the Indian bowlers from early breakthroughs, the duo constructed a partnership of 102 runs. Before this pair could help the Black Caps save the game, Ronchi fell short to Ravindra Jadeja. Santner, still at the crease was then joined by BJ Watling, who failed to give the Indian bowlers a tussle and soon gave away his wicket. The departure of the Kiwi batsmen then continued and New Zealand was soon all out for 236, giving India a historic victory in their 500th test.
Ravindra Jadeja was chosen as Man of the Match for his outstanding work with both bat and ball. He contributed 92 runs with the bat and took 6 wickets, helping India to a massive win over Kiwis.
